Alkistis Lara Papadaki

Bio

Alkistis- Lara Papadaki is a visual artist based in Athens, Greece. She holds a BFA in Fine Arts from the Athens School of Fine Arts, and an MA in Gender, Sexuality and Culture from Birkbeck, University of London. As of 2022 she is a PhD candidate, at the Athens School of Fine Arts. Her research focuses on the eating practices of Bulimia, and their intersection with shifting historical and societal norms around food, embodiment and health, with reference to the theoretical and methodological frameworks of queer theory and disability and Μad studies. Her artistic practice explores the performativity of foodstuffs and the employment of artistic practices for the creation of alternative pedagogical sites about food and the body. Since 2021, she has been a member of AMOQA (Athens Museum of Queer Arts), a space for the promotion of the arts and studies on sexuality and gender, operating in Athens since 2016.Her research interests include queer theory, crip theory, mad studies, artistic research, pedagogy and food studies.
